Modern Health
Risks
We live
in a "user friendly" world. Technology has given us so
many ways to simplify our day to day life,
making daily chores that much easier. We have
appliances for just about any job imaginable, we barely
have to move to get anything done anymore. Our modern way of
life carries with it modern health risks though.
Our world is
"user friendly" but it's also un-natural. Milk that stays fresh
for weeks, bread that never seems to go stale, seasonal fruit
and vegetables available all year round, everything we eat or
drink full of preservatives, our food produce contaminated by
pesticides, meat full of hormones. We pump our bodies full of
junk, gain weight, then go on the latest calorie restriction
diet and expect to get back to being healthy. More modern
health risks.
It always
strikes me as ironic, but for a generation of people
living in a fast world, none of us seems to be moving very fast
or very much. As our daily eating habits get gradually more and
more unhealthy, being overweight is now the rule, not the
exception. The numbers are staggering with reports showing over
60% of adults being overweight and close to 30% being obese.
The most modern of health risks.
Being
overweight is the cause of serious health problems - the modern
health risks we talk about:
-
increased
risk of developing Type 2 Diabetes
-
increased
risk of Heart Disease
-
increased risk of suffering a
Stroke
-
high Blood
Pressure
-
Liver
disease and Cirrhosis
-
Infertility
-
complications arising during
Pregnancy
- increased risk
of developing Osteoarthritis
-
increased
risk of developing Cancer - mainly in the
oesophagus (gullet) and pancreas
-
increased risk of suffering from Sleep
Apnea
We pump our
bodies full of foods that have been artificially grown,
fertilised, processed, preserved, packaged, then we expect to
live healthy lives. We stop at our nearest burger joint for a
burger and fries, take in a meal with virtually no nutrients,
high in saturated fats and highly refined carbohydrates,
brimming with sugar and sodium. We eat our admittedly tasty
meal and ingest close to 50 grams of fat and something
like 2000 calories. The recommended daily intake for most
adults is 65 grams of fat and 2000 calories. That one fast meal
has filled our calorie count for the day and almost filled our
fat intake.
The human
body is a highly complex machine. It's designed to process all
our daily intake of calories, burn up what we need in our daily
activity, keep the goodness we need and get rid of
the waste we don't need. But like all machines, it has
limits. Some of the things we eat today are just too complex
for our bodies to deal with. The result, we end up storing more
and more of our calorie intake in the form of fat, which means
we get bigger and bigger.
Processing
foods on an industrial scale, means we have to add more and
more preservatives to these foods. Preservatives which
eventually find their way into our bodies, carrying with them
parasites such as Tapeworms, Hookworms, Pinworms to name just a
few. These parasites live in our intestines and can actually be
the cause of obesity as they virtually force us to consume more
of the foods they crave... fat.
Cleansing our body of these parasites,
changing our eating habits to a more healthy plan... These are
steps we can and should take and once we start our trip
together, I'm sure the results will come. I've been blessed in
my life with the ability to put good advice into effect. Learn
from my many years of experience and let me help you
on your journey to a healthier, more vibrant, beautiful
body.
